Well… hello, strangers.
First things first,I’m honestly surprised I still remember how to log into Substack.
It’s been a minute.
I didn’t disappear; I just took an unexpected sabbatical. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I got trapped in the Suniverse. The characters refused to let me leave until their stories were finished.
The funny part? Drive Me Crazy was only supposed to be one book.
Yeah… the joke was definitely on me.
One book somehow turned into three Drive Me Crazy, District Between Us, and Suni Side. Somewhere between writing one chapter and saying, “I’ll just add one more scene,” an entire series was born.
I traded late nights for even later nights, lived on playlists and plot twists, laughed with my characters, argued with them, and watched this world grow into something bigger than I ever imagined.
Now that I’ve finally escaped the Suniverse (for the moment), I’m back and I’ve got plenty to catch you up on.
What inspired me to write Drive Me Crazy was a simple belief: there weren’t enough Black men telling Black love stories. So often, our stories are centered on trauma or struggle, and while those experiences matter, I wanted to write a story that celebrated love, growth, chemistry, and the beauty of Black relationships.
I wanted readers to see characters who felt real,people who fall in love, make mistakes, chase their dreams, and choose each other through it all.
What started as one novel quickly grew into something much bigger. Drive Me Crazy became the foundation of the Suni Series, followed by District Between Us and Suni Side. Together, the three books explore different relationships, different journeys, and different definitions of love. They show that love isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every relationship has its own challenges, timing, and path, and that’s what I wanted to capture.
At the heart of the series is the idea that Black love deserves to be told in all of its forms, with passion, vulnerability, joy, and authenticity.
